Siedah Garret confirmed as Industry Day Keynote speaker

Siedah Garrett has been a shining example of this years MEIEA conference theme, Crossing Boundaries. Her career in the music industry has lead her to cross paths with such industry giants as Madonna, Quincy Jones and Michael Jackson, with whom she co-wrote Man in the Mirror and sang the duet, I Just Can't Stop Loving You. After touring with Madonna in 2004, Siedah wrote Love You I Do, which received a 2007 nomination for an Academy Award. As a singer, songwriter and performer, Siedah Garrett brings the Crossing Boundaries theme together into one amazing speaker.

Angela Beeching confirmed as Education Keynote, Billboard Magazine, Digidesign confirmed for panels

As the 2007 Music and Entertainment Industry Educator Association National Conference draws closer, more and more leaders in the music and entertainment industries are signing on to share their knowledge and expertise with the next generation to try to make their mark on the business.

Angela Beeching, well known as being in the forefront of music business education, has been confirmed as the second day Keynote speaker. Having presented at numerous music conferences and events, and authoring Beyond Talent: Creating a Successful Career in Music, Beeching has created a name for herself as a leading figure in music education.

Confirmed panelists for To Blog or Not to Blog include Geoff Mayfield, Director of Charts for Billboard, Brandon Perkins, contributing writer to Urb Magazine, Libby Henry, Senior Account Executive for the Mitch Schneider Organization and Tim Mangen, writer for the OC Register.

The 2007 Music And Entertainment Industry Educator Association (MEIEA) National Conference will be hosted by the California Polytechnic University, Pomona's chapter of the Music and Entertainment Industry Student Association (MEISA). The conference will be held in both downtown Los Angeles and Cal Poly's campus.

The Music and Entertainment Industry Educators Association (MEIEA®), is an international organization that was formed in 1979. Its purpose was to bring together educators and the leaders of the music and entertainment industries. MEIEA’s main goal is to help bring students and the leaders in the industry together. In order to make sure they help students start off in the right foot in the music and entertainment industry, they strive to help provide resources for those who want to know and learn all aspects of the music and entertainment industries, as well as help schools and institutions develop music and entertainment industry programs, and promote students’ interests in the industries through guidance and support.

The Cal Poly Pomona MEISA chapter has a long history of excellence within the national MEISA organization, winning the Outstanding Chapter in 2005, and successfully hosting two Western Regional conferences. This year, the Cal Poly MEISA chapter is pleased to host their most successful event yet.

On March 23rd, 2007, Several hundred music industry students and educators striving to learn more about and contribute to the music and entertainment industries will visit Los Angeles, CA; often considered the heart of the music and film industries. Professionals from all aspects of the music industry will come together to discuss the future of the entertainment industry, as well as give insight into current trends.

March 24th, 2007 will focus on education in the fields of music and entertainment and will also feature a Music Industry Expo, which will feature an exhibition-style layout of the leading names in music presenting the latest gear and projects, as well as offer recruiting opportunities from a pool of some of the most enthusiastic students one can find. The location for this exciting aspect of the conference will be held at the Bronco Student Center, located at the center of the Cal Poly Pomona campus in Pomona, CA.

Some of the biggest names in Music and Music Education will be on hand to offer insights into the future of the music business the future of education within the industry.
