Welcome from Becky Chappell, 2006-2007 MEIEA National President
On behalf of MEIEA, I would like to extend a personal invitation for you to join us in Los Angeles on March 23rd and 24th for the 2007 International Conference of the Music & Entertainment Industry Educators Association (MEIEA). This is an excellent opportunity for you to learn more about the entertainment industry and to network with music business students, faculty, and professionals who share your passion.
This conference will bring together experts from across the U.S. to discuss the latest trends and challenges facing our industry. We will also take a look at some of the entertainment resources available on the West Coast and how they are impacting today’s music.
Hats off to our conference host, Dave Kopplin, and the students at Cal-Poly Pomona University who have done an exceptional job in preparing for this conference. Now get ready for two incredible days of exploring the entertainment industry in the Golden State!

Greetings!
On behalf of MEISA's Executive Board, we'd like to thank all of our dedicated members, faculty, and sponsors who have contributed an immense amount of time and effort towards the 2007 National MEIEA/MEISA Conference. We'd also like to commend those chapters who have participated in various regional conferences as well.
MEISA continually provides educational programs, professional insight, and networking opportunities for its members. The 2007 International Conference is one of many sponsored programs enabling students to learn more about current trends in the industry, as well as the challenging, yet rewarding obligations within the entertainment business. This conference is an exciting time because of these opportunities and as well as the student recognition that will take place.
During this conference, MEISA will honor a chapter that has excelled in professional, performance, social and community activities, as well as membership growth and local recruiting efforts with the 3rd Annual Outstanding MEISA Chapter Award. MEISA will also honor individuals for their achievements through the Battle of the Bands and MEISA Scholarship Essay contests. In addition, the 2007-2008 MEISA Executive Board and Regional Representatives will be elected.

What is MEIEA?
The Music and Entertainment Industry Educators Association (MEIEA) is an international organization that was formed in 1979 to bring together educators with leaders of the music and entertainment industries. The primary goal of MEIEA is to facilitate an exchange of information between educators and practitioners in order to prepare students for careers in the music and entertainment industries.
In order to seek professional practical knowledge and functional strategies in education, MEIEA endeavors to:
- Provide resources for the exchange of information and knowledge about all aspects of the music and entertainment industries;
- Foster scholarly research on the music and entertainment industries as well as on music and entertainment industries education;
- Assist institutions with the development of music and entertainment industries programs and curricula;
- Facilitate interaction between the music and entertainment industries and music and entertainment industries' educators and affiliated educational institutions; Promote student interests in the music and entertainment industries through guidance and support of the Music and Entertainment Industry Student Association (MEISA).
What is MEISA?
The Music and Entertainment Industry Student Association is an organization comprised of college and university students with an interest in the music and entertainment industries. Students can gain both experience and the opportunity to network with industry professionals through local, regional, and national activities and events.
Local events may include seminars, workshops, tours, campus and off-campus concerts, community service projects, mixers, career fairs, contests, and student-run companies such as record labels, publishing companies, and promotion companies.
Regional conferences are held in the fall, and the international conference is held in the spring. This year, Cal Poly Pomona will host the international conference. During these conferences, MEISA members participate in a wide variety of workshops, panels, and career fairs to engage them in the music and entertainment industries, as well as allow them to connect with industry professionals as well as other students from across the region or even the country.
MEISA members are also recognized for their accomplishments during the international conference. MEISA members may participate in the scholarship essay contest, National Battle of the Bands contest, and the Outstanding MEISA Chapter Award competition. The national MEISA executive board and regional representatives are also elected at this time.
